Alessandro Biondi, a researcher in computer engineering at the TECIP Institute of Sant’Anna School, will receive the “EDAA Outstanding Dissertation Award 2017” by the “European Design and Automation Association (EDAA) in Dresden, Germany, on March 20, at the international conference DATE 2018.
Biondi received the award for his doctoral study in Emerging Digital Technologies under the supervision of professors Giorgio Buttazzo and Marco Di Natale. His dissertation about “New directions in software design and optimization for embedded, cyber-physical and secure systems” was selected for its relevance in the advancement of design automation and embedded systems.
EDAA is a non-profit association and the main sponsor of DATE, the premier Design, Automation and Test Conference and Exhibition in Europe. EDAA is a global community of scholars that are dedicated to creating and disseminating knowledge about hardware and software design, test and manufacturing of electronic circuits and systems. Each year EDAA holds an annual conference and awards ceremony.
The purpose of the EDAA Outstanding Dissertation Award is to recognize outstanding recent doctoral candidates whose research contributes significantly to future and emerging technologies. The best dissertation award committee is composed of 30 scholars to encourage new Ph.D. candidates by providing a forum for presentation of their research.
Alessandro Biondi, with his dissertation “New directions in software design and optimization for embedded, cyber-physical and secure systems”, became the first Italian candidate to win the EDAA Outstanding Dissertation Award since its inception in 2003.
