To recognize the best paper published in the 2018 IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics journal, the Editorial Board of the journal selected the article “Modeling and Analysis of Engine Control Tasks Under Dynamic Priority Scheduling” authored by Alessandro Biondi and Giorgio Buttazzo of Sant’Anna TeCIP Institute.

Researchers Alessandro Biondi, and Giorgio Buttazzo, working at the TeCIP Institute Real-Time Systems Laboratory (the ReTiS Lab was founded by Professor Giorgio Buttazzo), proposed “a task model for expressing a number of realistic features of engine control applications and presented a real-time schedulability analysis for applications consisting of multiple engine control tasks and classical periodic/sporadic tasks scheduled by the Earliest Deadline First algorithm”.

The IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics initiative aims to award a prize to researchers who distinguish themselves in the field of intelligent and computer control systems, robotics, factory communications, and automation.

Professor Juan Jose Rodriguez-Andina, Vice President of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), presented the Best Paper 2018 IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics award in Zaragoza at the International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation on September 12, 2019.

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics focuses on knowledge-based factory automation as a means to enhance industrial fabrication and manufacturing processes. This award initiative aims to provide scholarly research impacts to automation and industrial fabrication. This Best Paper was selected from a list of 3000 papers submitted and among 500 research papers published in 2018.
