“Neural Networks and Deep Learning” is the course held by Giorgio Buttazzo, professor of Computer Engineering and director of the TeCIP Institute of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, offered to internal PhD students – but also open to PhD students from other universities – which is having great success. The present edition of the course is in fact registering a record of “attendance”, even though the lessons, all in English, are held electronically: 140 attendees from 30 Italian universities.

This “exceptional participation”, as Giorgio Buttazzo defines it, confirms the great interest in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, considered very powerful methodologies for facing (and solving) a significant number of problems in all disciplines, from Engineering to Law, from Medicine to Economics and Social Sciences.

The RETIS Laboratory and the ICT COISP Center of the TeCIP Institute of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies have provided relevant contributions on artificial intelligence, both for training and scientific research, with the aim of increasing its safety and reliability in numerous applications, such as autonomous driving systems and the efficient and sustainable management of complex industrial processes.
